As you all know my health journey began April 27, 2007. I still can’t believe it but on April 27, 2012, I will celebrate my 5th year anniversary since my health journey began. To celebrate join me, Saturday April 28 for the Texas Round-Up (this was my first 5K) and Sunday, April 29 for the Schlotzsky’s 5K/10K Bun Run.
It has truly been a journey. Over the last 5 years, I lost over 50 pounds. I eat healthy thanks to all the advice from cookbooks, Weight Watchers, SparkPeople, EveryDayHealth.com, JillianMichaels.com, books and others. I have tried various workout classes such as kickboxing, boxing, yoga, cycling and zumba. I even did the Shaun T’s Insanity and Jillian Michaels DVD’s. I am still in level one for Jillian’s yoga DVD…its hard. I have now run in a number of 5k and 10k races in Austin and Houston. In 2010, I even became a walk/run coach (AKA Coach ACT). In 2011, I completed a half-marathon, developed Coach ACT Blog and became a AFAA certified personal trainer. Earlier this year, I did my first marathon and in late March I began training for my next marathon. More experiences to come.
It means a lot to me to make a difference. Especially as a coach and trainer, together we are staying healthy. My experience throughout my health journey has allowed me to pay it forward to others. I continue to learn more to teach others. I think out of all my accomplishments in the past 5 years the most rewarding has been to see others journeys begin and celebrating thier success. Just think many of you were couch potatoes but now you work out 3-5 times a week. Many of you walk/run more than 4 miles. You train in the Texas cold and blazing sun. Those that vowed never to run are running now. Many have improved your speed, endurance, energy and weight.
When did your journey begin, what have you changed and who have you inspired to start a health journey? Every day we are influencing others to start their journey to live a healthy lifestyle. Continue to motivate and inspire others by inviting a friend for a walk, training with the Team or sharing my blog. Check out my friend San Juanita’s new blog: She follows the Coach ACT blog and got inspired to start her own blog to record her health journey. SJ, we are proud of you and I look forward to training with you when I am in Houston: www.cantstopwontstoprunning.wordpress.com
Continue to pay it forward. Just think helping others become healthy you are literally saving lives. Others will notice your generosity and dedication to making a difference. For instance this past Christmas, my friends gave me a Willow Tree Spirit of Giving Figurine. They noticed my generosity and others will notice yours too. Continue to make a difference for not only your health but for others too. One step at a time and one person at a time. All you have to do is: Walk. Run. Motivate. Inspire. Stay Fit.
