Operation Turkey Shed!

Team- Glad everybody had a great Thanksgiving. Many of you either continued to meet, walked or did the homework during the holiday break. That shows you are committed to your health. As Winnie said Tuesday, “Operation Turkey Shed in Now in Effect.” So I will be extra “nice” with the team to prepare for the remaining holidays. On December 13, 2011, we will have another fit test and do measurements. On December 15, I will announce the winner of the measurement challenge (Gift Card for Amber Moon Studio).

Everybody had good numbers for the fit test and measurements. 30 second Fit test numbers ranged from: High Knees 45 to 88
But Kicks 39 to 45
Squats: 17 to 22
Lunges: 12 to 24
Jumping Jacks: 11 to 43
Push Ups: 14 to 28

Now that it’s getting colder don’t make excuses that it’s too cold to exercise (with the exception of dangerous conditions). In the winter of 2009-2010 the coldest temperature was 25 degrees in Austin (KVUE.com). Wear layers of clothing to prevent heat loss (especially cover your hands and head). American Council of Exercise (ACE) recommends the following: acefitness

Rules for exercising in the cold:
• Check the temperature and wind conditions before you go out and do not exercise if conditions are dangerous. • Keep your head, hands and feet warm. • Dress in layers that can provide a trapped layer of dry air near the skin (avoid cotton sweats and other similar materials). • Warm the air you are breathing if temperatures are below your comfort level (usually around 0° F). Jillian Michaels has some good tips too: exercise-cold.

For the next couple of weeks especially during the holidays: Continue to do resistance exercise, walk, run and your homework. Its for your health.
