Team- Great job during this weeks drills. Yes…you did Farlek 5/2 in style.
Growing up we participated in many physical activities such as physical education, skipping, swimming, track, volleyball, soccer, dancing and etc. During that time you developed muscle memory.
During training, we practice the exercises with repetition and sets to build the muscle memory with walking, running and resistance drills . Your muscles remember the movement the more you practice the exercise. For example, once you learn how to ride a bicycle you won’t forget next time you ride (even if it’s a year later).
During training this week, muscle memory is what helped many of you do more pushups, walk/run longer periods of time. When you take a week or more off the muscle memory is still there but it is not as strong as it was before. That is the reason you are sore after missing a week or more of practice. Your muscle memory will help you catch up sooner than someone who hasn’t developed that muscle memory. So you don’t have to play catch up next year continue to work out over the holidays. Make sure your muscles remember!
