F1 5K and Tips for the Austin Alumni Team!

Formula Run Finish Pics
Formula Run 5K Start

Team- It was an incredible weekend. We got a change to be the first to Walk/Run on the Circuit Of The Americas Formula 1 Race Track!  For many of you this was the first 5K and for others this was an opportunity to showcase all your learned skills during your long months of training.  Weren’t those hills lovely?  I am so proud of all the Coach ACT Training Team.  The Formula 5K Run was also a big milestone for me.  I hit my 1,000 mile mark after completing this race. Wow!  For the last few years, I have been using my Nike Sports Watch to keep track of my mileage.  I have gone through many pairs of shoes and sore days but it’s all worth it.  A thousand miles is equivalent to: 20,000,000 steps, 321 5K’s, 160 10K’s, 76 half marathons or 38 marathons. Running is truly a good addiction to have.

Now from good news to Coach ACT’s Tips for the Austin Alumni:

My fitness journey began April 27, 2007. By 2008, I joined 24 Hour Gym and Weight Watchers which led to me losing weight.  In 2009, I started training for my first Texas Round Up 5K.  In 2010, I started training for my first Texas Round Up 10K.  By May 2010, I was asked to continue training a 5K/10K team at the Capitol .  This incredible role led me to become known as Coach ACT  (2 years of being a "nice" coach).  In 2011, I ran my first half-marathon and later became an AFAA certified personal trainer.  February 2012, I ran my first marathon in Austin.  For 2013, I will be running my second marathon in Houston.  I plan to take Coach ACT Training to the next level in Houston to improve the health of my community.

Being a coach has been a great experience.  I was given a change to see many of you begin your fitness journey and start believing in yourself again.  Those smiles and high fives of achievement are priceless.  We kept each other accountable and motivated.  I will miss my Coach ACT Walk/Running Austin Team.  To the team keep going.  I will continue being nice to you until Nov. 15.  Use all the tools I gave you to accomplish more fitness goals. Share your knowledge with others.  I learned so much from you all too.  Keep checking my blog for tips:  www.coachact.blogspot.com.  Email or call if you need advice or a training calendar for your next race.  I’ll probably host a Coach ACT 5k in Austin for the alumni.  Keep signing up for races and making goals.  Buy fitness magazines, movies, DVD’s or books to keep informed.   I am a big fan of Jillian Michaels books and workout DVD’s.  The Insanity Workout DVD's are great intense workout videos.  Attend fitness seminars or get certified through AFAA as a trainer.  Train others. Find a gym, park or sport that you like ( I love soccer).  Try new classes at the gym (my favorite are Zumba, Kickboxing, Turbo Kick, Spinning and Body Pump).  Join groups or teams such as Luke’s Locker, USA Austin Fit, www.meetup.com, RunTex or Rogue.  Keep track of your fitness activities and routes using calendars, www.mapmyrun.com and www.mapmywalk.com.  Keep track of what you eat by using www.Weightwatchers.com, www.sparkpeople.com or LoseIt Apps.  Download fitness Apps on your Iphone like Nike Trainer. Find a new fitness class deal or adventure through Groupons or Google Offers.

I will definitely miss my Coach ACT Austin Alumni Team and all my incredible mentors.  Below is a list of all my mentors and fitness friends I have made along my journey.  Don’t hesitate to contact them for their advice and services.

I would like for you to do one more thing for me.  Please send me your testimonial about your experience with Coach ACT Training. Feel free to send me suggestions on how to make the trainings better and what I should work on. What type of specific training programs did you like? I want to add these testimonials to the blog's new Testimonial Page.

Thank you again for the opportunity to share my journey and tips with you.  Now keep your journeys going by helping others in their fitness journey.  Remember Coach ACT Training slogan: Walk. Run. Motivate. Inspire. Stay Fit.

Keep those goals coming.  Remember, when it comes to fitness. I want to see results…not excuses…it’s for your health!
