Restart!

There are only a few weeks left for the Susan Komen Race for the Cure-5K. Don’t forget to register for the race. For the next two months we will be doing longer drills to help build more endurance for race day.  Click Here: To print the training calendar for the Komen 5k. For a few of you this will be your first 5K and for others the race will be a true symbol of you taking control of your health.

Tuesday many of you were relieved when I said that we were skipping the measurements this month. I am not sure if that was a good thing.  Follow the new calendar as close as possible so that you see results next time we do the measurements.  Do you have what it takes to win the measurement challenge?

P.S.  Welcome to the Team Blondie…I can’t wait to see you finish your first 5K running!
Reminder: Team for Tuesdays: Bring a workout mat and a resistance band with handles.

Ask Coach ACT:

Question from Becky:  I wish I had the energy I had back then to work out like I did before. Can I get tips on how to start over again?

Dear Becky,
Life happens.  Sometimes we get off of our exercise routine.  But the good thing is you can start over again at any time. Once you develop a routine you will have more energy. Coach ACT tips: (many are explained further in previous blog postings)
•    Do exercises you enjoy: Go to the park with your son or go dancing.
•    Make time to exercise: Don’t you make time for the novelas or your favorite show?
•    Make a commitment: Sign up for a team or race. Try something new.
•    Nutrition: Eat balanced meals, make healthy decisions and stay hydrated.
•    Write your health goals in a journal: What you want to accomplish?
•    Look at old pictures: Before and after pictures can be an eye opener!
•    Find support: Tell a loved one or friend to help you reach your fitness goals.
•    Measurements: Measure your waist, hips, thigh, neck, arm, calf, forearm and neck to keep track of your  improvements.
•    Never stop challenging yourself:  This could be you one day: “The world’s oldest marathon runner, Fauja Singh, today set a new official record as the fastest 100-year-old ever to run a 10K"-http://marathons.ahotu.com/.
